TRIER
The Green Footprints Kids On The Move campaign took place for the thirteenth time this year, from September 16 to 20, 2024, as part of the national Mobility Week. As in previous years, the event was organized by the City of Trier, the Broadway Film Theater, and the Local Agenda 21 Trier. In total, children from participating primary schools and kindergartens in Trier collected over 15,000 Green Footprints by traveling in environmentally friendly ways—on foot, by bike, scooter, or using public transportation.
More than 1,200 children took part in the action week and learned about the benefits of a car-free environment. Participating schools included Trier-Irsch Primary School, Mariahof Primary School, Barbara Primary School, and Feyen Primary School.
The closing event took place on September 25 at the Broadway Film Theater, where 12 to 15 children from each institution presented their collected Footprints in the form of colorful posters and messages to Trier’s Mayor, Elvira Garbes. These Footprints will now be forwarded to the Climate Alliance and presented at the UN Climate Conference in November 2024 in Baku as a symbol of the children’s commitment to climate action in Europe. Thank you for your dedication, dear children of Trier!
