Bayreuth

This year, nearly 800 children from 7 institutions in the city and the administrative district Bayreuth collected around 19,000 green footprints for climate protection and will send them to the 20th UN Climate Change Conference in Lima, Peru. Since 8 years, the “Klimaregio Bayreuth” has called on children from the region Bayreuth to participate in the campaign initiated by Climate Alliance.

This year, the following institutions participated in the campaign:
- from  Bayreuth: die school „Volksschule Bayreuth-Lerchenbühl“ and the primary school „Jean-Paul-Grundschule“
- from the administrative district Bayreuth: die Protestant daycare center Donndorf-Fantaisie in Eckersdorf, the  Protestant Kindergarten Obernsees in Mistelgau, the Protestant Kindergarten Wichtelschiff in Goldkronach-Nemmersdorf, the school „Werner-Porsch-Volksschule” in Speichersdorf and the primary school “Sebastian-Kneipp-Grundschule” in Bad Berneck.

Breitbrunn

At children’s house St Johannes, from 26th May to 1st June 2014, kindergarten and crib children with their parents and the house team collected 551 Green, 113 Blue and 132 Orange Footprints. Together these are 796 Footprints for Lima. Thank you!

Herzogenaurach

Here, this year children from 7 schools and 3 daycare centers participated and together collected 9,992 green footprints!

Illertissen

We are especially delighted that Illertissen, after a long lasting break, participated again in the green footprints campaign: Children of Bischof-Ulrich-Schule collected 3,425 green footprints.

Lindau

In Lindau in 5 kindergarten, 230 children collected 2,112 green footprints.
Proudly they handed over their collected footprints, posters and documentation to the Lord Mayor of Lindau.

The coordinator of the city wrote:
“The participating kindergarten received the project well and probably Lindau will also participate in the campaign in 2015."

Lindenberg im Allgäu

In the week from 13th to 17th October, the pupils of the primary school Lindenberg collected 3,560 green footprints.
Those were handed over together with their beautiful posters and drawings to their mayor.

Schwabach

279 children in 13 classes collected 2,957 green footprints at the school „ Christian-Maar-Schule”.

In the 1st – 4th grade they talked about the greenhouse effect.

In the 1st and 2nd grade they talked primarily about stretches of way (way to school and ways in the afternoon):

- Our way to school: How do I reach school safely and environmentally friendly?
- Our ways in the afternoon: Am I able to do without car/alternatives for the car?
- What did our parents’ and grandparents’ way to school look like? / Which transportation did they use to go to school?
- Ways to school around the world: How do the children  in other countries go to school?

In the 3rd and 4th grade they talked about stretches of way (way to school and ways in the afternoon) but also about energy saving methods and renewable energy.

Some classes made posters and footprints out of cardboard on which they promise to protect the climate or the make specific demands, for example more traffic lights on the way to school, more playgrounds and/or play streets.

Unterschleißheim

This year, the kindergarten Wirbelwind participated for the first time.
They wrote us the following letter:

     “Dear organizers of Climate Alliance,
For one week we have collected:
Green footprints by foot, scooter, bicycle and bus: 505.
Red footprints for regional food: 69.
Blue footprints for energy saving: 58.
Of course, we will keep on with that.
    Best regards from Unterschleißheim

The children and the team of the kindergarten.

Vöhringen-Illerzell

For years, the Kneipp-Kindergarten Pusteblume has been participating in the Green Footprint Campaign
They are themed: Not go by car but walk and ride the bike. The idea is to renounce the car, parents are either using public transport and bring their children to the day-care center or let them go by scooter or bike.
Unfortunately, Illerzell is not benefited by public transport. Due to that, the parents came up with some ideas if the car has to be used, nevertheless.
“We also have children from Vöhringen coming to our day-care center and even one child comes from Illerrieden”, says the director of the center, Beatrix Schrode. These parents have parked their cars at the edges of the town Illerzell and have walked to the day-care center Pusteblume. “Or”, as told by Beatrix Schrode, „they have taken the scooter or bike out of the trunk and the children went the last part of the way by muscular power.
This year, from 23th June to 4th July 2014, two groups with 25 children each collected 396 Green Footprints.
