In the initiative to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices, several municipalities in Luxembourg have actively engaged educational institutions, including schools, Maison Relais, and daycare centers.
In total, 4,389 children were participating in various programs across 30 municipalities, earning a significant number of Greng Meilen/green footprints. The programs were conducted in 41 schools. The collective efforts of these educational institutions are contributing to the earning of 31,515 Greng Meilen/green footprints, fostering a greener and more sustainable future for Luxembourg.
The staff at Maison Relais SEA Päiperleck in Junglinster shared with us: "Eis an de Kanner huet de Projet vill Spaas gemach, Merci nach emol fir Méiglegkeet déi Dir de Kanner an eis domat bidd." (The project was a lot of fun for us and the kids. Thanks once again for the opportunity you provided for the children and us.)
Here's an overview of the participation in different municipalities:
Berdorf: In Berdorf, students from Berdorf School and Ecole fondamentale de Berdorf participated in the initiative with 19, 16, 17, and 16 students respectively. They all actively took part in the action, strengthening their awareness of the environment. Together, they collected 475 green miles.
Bettembourg: In Bettembourg, Maison Relais SEA Sonnepavillon Noertzange joined with 121 children in 4 classes, showing strong dedication to climate protection in the community. They successfully gathered 121 green miles.
Bettendorf: Bettendorf's Schoul Annexe Gilsdorf made significant progress with 58 students in 4 classes, earning an impressive total of 1481 green footprints .
Capellen: In Capellen, Maison Relais Capellen (Arcus asbl) played an important role in climate protection with 142 children in 8 classes. The children collected 142 green miles successfully.
Differdange: Differdange was represented by students from Schoul Déifferdeng Centre (Mädchenhaus) with 75 children in three classes, Schoul Fousbann with 15 children in one class, and an outpost of Schoul Déifferdeng Centre with 43 children in three classes. They all practiced sustainable habits with great enthusiasm and collected many green miles. For example, Class C2.2 collected 210 miles.
Dudelange: In Dudelange, Maison Relais Deich and Schoul Lenkeschléi participated. The 88 children collected 1173 green miles – a fantastic result, keep it up!
Esch/Alzette: Esch/Alzette's Foyer de Jour Coccinella had 21 students in 4 classes, contributing to 394 green footprints. Esch-sur-Alzette's Schoul Brill 1 had 16 students in 1 class, accumulating 477 green footprints.
Habscht: In Habscht, MR Septfontaines Arcus involved 47 students in 8 classes, contributing 148 green footprints.
Hesperange: Hesperange's Schoul Howald stood out this year. The 375 children collected an impressive 8136 green miles in just two weeks!
Junglinster: In Junglinster, Maison Relais SEA Päiperleck actively participated in the campaign. The 64 children collected 393 green miles and engaged in various activities, including cleaning up, dyeing Easter eggs with onion skins, creating their own body lotion, baking granola bars, and exploring their surroundings as traffic detectives.
Kayl: In Kayl, three institutions participated: Maison Relais SEA Widdem, Schoul Téiteng, JP Nuel, and Maison Relais SEA Faubourg. Together, with 154 children in 12 classes, they collected 517 green miles.
Kayl/Tetingen: In Kayl/Tetingen, Maison Relais SEA Widdem had 56 students from 2 classes participating, contributing 328 green footprints. Their involvement showcases their commitment to fostering environmental awareness among students.
Koerich: In Koerich, Schoul Käerch excelled with 220 children in 16 classes, gathering 4406 green miles. They are among the top performers this year – keep up the great work!
Luxembourg: In Luxembourg City, several institutions were active. Maison Relais Luciole 9 Howald participated with 124 children in 8 classes. Schoul Bonnevoie-Gellé collected 156 green miles with 14 children. Ecole Gaston Diderich contributed significantly with 87 children in 6 classes, gathering 2046 green miles – a big thank you for their efforts!
Mersch: In Mersch, Schoul Nic Weltin Mersch had 206 children in 14 classes, contributing 1794 green miles. Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos!
Mertzig: Mertzig's Mäerzeger Schoul had 150 students in 9 classes, contributing to 820 green footprints.
Mondercange: Mondercange's Schoul Steinbrücken was represented by 174 children in 11 classes, who collected 1012 green miles.
Schifflange: In Schifflange, Maison Relais SEA Scheffleng engaged 334 students from 4 classes, gathering an impressive 3362 green footprints. Their significant contribution highlights their dedication to environmental conservation and education. Schoul Nelly Stein Schifflange also actively participated with 133 students from 8 classes.
Steinsel: Steinsel demonstrated active engagement with three schools. Schoul Centre Robert Krieps had 135 students from 9 classes, Schoul Michel had 99 students from 6 classes, and Schoul Sepp had 118 students from 7 classes. Together, they collected 477, 1408, and 1307 green footprints respectively. Their collective efforts showcase their commitment to environmental education and sustainability.
